At Calvary's Cross

When all was dark and I was tired,

Decision pressured me to cry;

Tears drowned the pain inside

And buried the reason why.

Then came the day the pain broke loose,

And pressures swept away.

My reasons knelt at Calvary’s Cross;

Christ washed self-will away.

I rested at the Throne of Grace,

And cried for utter joy.

My heart found healing in Christ’s Face

And freedom in His employ.

Christ nailed my will to Calvary’s Cross

And crucified my pain.

How senseless was my willful dross

Before surrender came.

My feet now rest on solid rock,

The gravestone rolled away.

I carry on my back the cross

Of Jesus’ glorious Name!
