Morning Glories

Like little faces nodding smiles

Of sunshine, love, and peace,

My morning glories beckon me

To take a garden seat.

So happy yet so gentle,

Pure with purpose, singing praise,

They open hearts of tender trust

To Heaven’s morning grace.

So soon and so unspoken

Close the morning glories’ eyes,

Loath to watch the scorching climb

Of midday’s busy dial.

Like manna in the morning,

They withdraw before the noon,

Sending sternest warnings

That night comes all too soon.

Like glories rising with the dawn

May I behold Thy Face--

Eternal Morning Glory, Lord,

To bless life’s little day!

Thank you, Autumn! I used to watch the morning glories open up on my brick patio on my Rotary home, and they always closed back at noon!

What a fresh, sweet little poem! Nature indeed points us to our Creator!

Thank you, Paula! This was based on an actual experience in my backyard on Rotary in High Point!
