From little creatures' throats and wings,

From heaven's doors ajar,

Come pleasant sounds and hearts that sing--

For my great God is there.

A croaking frog, a screaming gull--

A twitter in the dark--

All these and still a whole world more

Speak my Creator's heart.

The stillness in the sunset surf,

The cicada whine at noon--

The harmony of sounds rings forth

From dawn till rising moon.

The kettle drums from summer storms,

The crash of tide on sand--

All these bring music to my soul

From Heaven's worship band.

"The cicada whine at noon--"

Don't we know this well after this summer? 😄
