The World of Mirror

The imaginary World of Mirror,
Where everything meets in reverse--
The one-way window to nowhere--
Compels my entrance.
But first,
Break the spell of the fairy
That dusted that world with a glow,
And grasp that the world in the mirror
But fulfills the reality we know:
The enchantment of having an entrance
On the right instead of the left--
Of going this way down the hallway
To breakfast instead of to bed . . .
The world of the mind so intriguing,
In perspective, so familiar but strange--
Impossible that I cannot step through it
And thus have my life rearranged.
Oh, there sits that rocker so cozy,
The desk by the fireplace speaks.
So loudly, this fresh reverse calls me;
So falsely, the mirror-room breaks.
O could there be somewhere that mindset
That mirrors yet flips around time?
The clock wouldn't really be ticking;
The hands wouldn't move at all.
For the world in the mirror is heaven,
Correcting all turned in the Fall.
So darkly we gaze into forever,
So unlike everything we know:
And one day step through the Mirror
To behold the bright gaze of the LORD.
